GGGS STUDENTS PARTICIPATED AT TENTH GURUKUL PROGRAM June
2010
Foundation of Universal
responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama conducted its Tenth
Gurukul Programme-North India at Dharamsala. Students
from across the globe participated in this program. Two GGGS students
of Rai Foundation Ms. tenzin Wangmo from Nepal and Ms. Rinchen
Domla from Ladakh also Participated in this Program.
30 day Gurukul program included a month
long stay at Dharamsala which included
Meeting and learning from eminent Buddhist
teachers, volunteering in Tibetan NGOs,
living in Monasteries and Nunneries, meeting
with HH the Dalai Lama and many other
leaders, in Tibetan Monasteries and Nunnery
to learn and experience the local community,
Tibetan art, literature, Buddhist Philosophy,
dance, music and many other things.
The program started on 1st of June 2010
and ended on 30th of the month. Program
began with a 3 day introductory tour of
Dharamsala. All the participants were
given accommodation in monasteries and
nunneries. After this tour the core Gurukul
program began which gave a broad understanding
of Buddhist culture and religion. Girl
students lived with Buddhist nuns and
learnt about life and learning of nunneries
and also about the various aspects of
Buddhist philosophy.
They also had an audience with His Holiness
The Dalai Lama, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche,
Kalon Tripa and His Holiness The Karmapa.
After returning from Gurukul programme Ms. Wangmo stated "my
life has changed now, I am more disciplined and feel at peace
with myself".
Rinchen says "I could not believe
my lucky, I actually spoke to His Holiness
The Dalai Lama, I have now in real sense
have understood the meaning of Buddhism,
The world looks much better now".
