About GGGS Programme

Gifted Girl & Girl Genius Scholarship (GGGS), a socio educational initiative of Rai Foundation, was launched on a large scale in 2007 with a specific design to achieve holistic and realistic empowerment of the girl child.

Rai Foundation believes that Real Development is only possible when quality education and equal opportunities reaches to its bottom of Pyramid citizens especially girls.

This scholarship includes free tuition, boarding and lodging - even the study books, and materials for practical purposes. Transportation for educational trips, Mediclaim for Rs. 100000/- per annum and other peripheral activities related to academics are also taken care of by Rai Foundation.

GGGS was started with a clear objective of providing access to professional higher education for deserving girl students thus enhancing their opportunities for mainstream employability. Students are given a choice of Graduation and Post Graduation courses in the fields of Media, Journalism, Business and Management, Fashion, Interior Designing, Hotel and Tourism, Airhostess and other services.

Lifeskills, the maantra for success, is a part of teaching for these girls, one that imbibes in them the key value of sincerity, team work, Integrity, Service, Leadership and Enterprise. Regular personality development and spoken English classes are conducted to bring them to a level where they can compete with their city counterparts.

Education without a doubt is the most powerful tool for empowerment. This is more so for disadvantaged girls whose historic and social realities in low income communities make them prone to living a life of uncertainty and exploitation. Today, Rai Foundation has reached out to 1000 girls across India and from 15 countries across the world like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tibetan (Dharamshala) etc., through active partnerships with a large number of dedicated NGOs, Embassies, Principals, Corporate Groups and Individuals. We recognise that girls from underprivileged background, given an equal opportunity, can match or better their city counterparts. This year also we will intake additional 400 girls under full scholarship.

Through a mediated process of skills training, counseling and overall personality and psycho-social development, GGGS girls are well on their way to achieving their dreams.

Internship / Placement of GGGS Girls

While the seeds of a movement have been sown, Rai Foundation is aware that it is making a small beginning of a long and challenging journey. The Foundation is now poised to grow and scale new heights. It promises to make every effort to ensure scale, consistency and quality so that the social and economic deprivation of girls becomes a matter of past.

Rai Foundation would also appreciate your help in identifying and sending such underprivileged girls from poor homes and remote places, who have not yet seen the benefits of growth. Click on the links Invitation and Nomination Form for GGGS July 2010 session.

If you would like to receive further details on successful cases and collaborating through a shared vision, Rai Foundation will be happy to send you a comprehensive plan which covers the developmental lifecycle for converting latent talent in to inclusive and active leadership.
